About Me

I hate these things. How do you write about yourself? Hmmmmm.....here goes!

I'm Rob, and you found my blog. I guess the purpose of this is to share my interest in running and fitness with others. I've only recently gotten into both. A year ago (2012), I was asked by a co-worker if I wanted to get into better shape. Thought about it and said yes. At that point I was about 254 pounds. Definitely needed to do something. So I started on P90X. Probably the most physical activity that I had done in a long time. I was a skeptic going in. But, it started to work! The weight started coming off. Fast forward a year later. After another round of P90X combined with Insanity, and then Les Mills Combat, I was down to 204 pounds. Somewhere in the middle of all of that I got this crazy idea to start running. Never ran before, but it sounded interesting.

I had only been running a short time and I decided to enter my first 5K race. I wanted what ever it was that I entered in to be more than just going on a run. I wanted it to be for a good cause. I chose to run in the University of Wisconsin's Carbone Cancer Centers Race for Research. Figured it was as good of a starting place as any.

I'm thinking running is taking a special place in my life. It's really opened up a new world to me and has made me set some tall goals. I'm currently planning on entering the Bolder Boulder 10K in May of 2014. A 10K race in wonderful Boulder Colorado, at just of 5400 feet. If that doesn't really expand horizons, I don't know what will.
